Since the explosion of ChatGPT onto the market in November 2022, the use of Generative AI tools has sparked significant debate globally about its safe and ethical use in a variety of sectors, such as education, healthcare and the law. BPP University is preparing its students to enter workplaces where Generative AI is already playing or is set to play a major role. Through appropriate training and guidance, the university is therefore supporting its students to become AI-literate and know how to use generative AI tools effectively and appropriately as part of their learning experience.
The Social Impact team recognise that not every member of the public has equal access to learning experiences about this rapidly evolving technology, and they may feel ill equipped to enter an education or workplace setting where they are expected to know if, and in what circumstances, use of generative AI tools might be appropriate. To this end, we are pleased to launch a new Streetlaw workshop aiming to educate audiences about how to use Generative AI tools in a safe and responsible way.
This interactive workshop is offered for free to secondary schools, sixth form colleges, community groups and charitable organisations around the UK, and can be delivered in-person (in venues close to our Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester or London campuses) or online. Attendees will leave with the ability to think more critically in the future about if, when and how they might engage with a generative AI tool when completing a task – especially important to ensure they do not fall foul of policies in place in their education or workplace settings.
