The BPP Pro Bono Centre is delighted to extend its Law Firm Shadowing project by launching a new legal advice clinic on 9 November 2017 at St Hilda’s East Community Centre in collaboration with Macfarlanes LLP. Volunteer BPP students will be working with volunteer Macfarlanes lawyers providing legal advice to the local community in key areas such as employment, housing and commercial law. The legal advice clinic runs alongside a food co-op where affordable food is made available to the local community.
Louise Zekaria, Head of Inclusion and CSR at Macfarlanes LLP said “The legal clinic with St Hilda’s East Community Centre is a really worthwhile programme, which will provide significant support to the local residents. We are very pleased to be working on this pro bono project and launching during National Pro Bono Week in conjunction with BPP”.
Victoria Speed, Director of Pro Bono & CSR at BPP University said “Our Shadowing Project is hugely popular with students and is very ably run by our dynamic London Pro Bono Manager, Laura Jones. I am very excited about the new partnership working alongside Macfarlanes in providing much needed legal support to vulnerable clients.”
